Alumni Endowed Scholarship Application

The Alumni Endowed Scholarship (AES) fund provides financial assistance to direct descendants of Graceland University alumni.

Applicant must:

  • Be the direct descendant of a Graceland alumni.
  • Apply for admission to Graceland University or be a current student in good standing.
  • Plan to attend Graceland the fall semester following application.
  • Submit an AES application on or before March 1.

Ineligibility

Relatives of selection committee members are ineligible to receive an Alumni Endowed Scholarship award.

Eligibility

Anyone who completes 12 semester hours of course work at Graceland is considered to be an alumni. Each year, Graceland accepts applications for this scholarship starting on January 1 with a final submission deadline of March 1. The Alumni Board Fundraising & Awards Committee works hand-in-hand with Graceland Admissions to determine each year’s recipients. Once awarded, the AES is renewable for up to four years.

Application Procedure

  • Submit an application for admission to Graceland University.
  • Complete the AES application online*.
  • Upload two letters of recommendation with no more than one letter from any of the following areas: religious organization, employment, community, or school. All application materials must be received by March 1.

*If you do not have access to the appropriate technology to complete the application online, please contact the Alumni Programs Office and an application packet that you can complete manually and submit by mail will be provided to you.

Responses to all questions must be provided in essay format. Attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation and other standard formatting guidelines is expected.
Tell us about school, church and community activities that you have been involved with. Be sure to note any achievements or recognitions you have received related to these activities.
Describe examples of your leadership experience, in or out of school, in which you significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.
Why are you interested in attending Graceland University? What did Graceland mean to your relatives who are alumni?
What does a college education mean to you? What do you plan to do with your college degree?
Please respond to one (1) of the following three questions: 1. Describe an activity, issue, or idea about which you are passionate and explain why it means so much to you. 2. Tell us about a person, event or circumstance that has influenced you, and how it impacted your life. This may include a rewarding or unforgettable experience. 3. Review a book that has special significance for you. It should not be a book that you read for school, but rather something you read on your own. In your review, please explain what attracted you to the book and why you would recommend it to a friend.
