Description:

Graceland University is seeking candidates for a full-time {12-month) Director of Clinical Education (DCE)/Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) faculty appointment with clinical rank commensurate with experience for its developing Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) program in Independence, Missouri.

Under the general direction of the OTD Program Director, the Director of Clinical Education will cultivate professional growth in the administration of occupational therapy clinical education and as a teacher and scholar while performing service to the department, college, university, and community. They will engage in scholarship activities, with priority for those which engage and enhance the academic and professional development of students. They are required to maintain competence in the academic field by remaining current in their own and related disciplines and in the most effective instructional methods. They will demonstrate effectiveness in the synthesis, interpretation, and communication of current information and best practices in the healthcare field.

In addition to administrative, instructional, and scholarly activity, they will participate in activities consistent with the policies of Graceland University. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position with instructional terms in spring, summer, and fall. Regular travel to the state of Missouri is required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a terminal doctoral degree or a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency.
  • Two years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy which must include:
    • Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
    • Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training in the roles and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator.
  • Occupational therapist with an active, unrestricted license in the state of residence.  Licensed or eligible for licensure in Missouri or Kansas.
  • Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in occupational therapy clinical education.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.
  • Experience consistent with University System for Faculty Rank.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc) in occupational therapy or related field.
  • Experience as Director of Clinical Education/or Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
  • Strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural and ethnic groups within the OTD program and other stakeholders.
  • Documented continuing education in academia and/or leadership skills.
  • Specialist Certification in a specific practice area.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in secondary education within a hybrid platform.
  • Demonstrated organization, problem solving, leadership, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills in areas related to clinical education and professional practice.

Other Qualifications:

  • Upon hire, candidate must have reliable transportation to facilitate travel to Graceland University worksites, clinical sites, and other locations as required by the position. This includes access to an airport with regular flights to Kansas City, MO, a valid driver’s license, and a personal or rental vehicle that is legally registered and insured. [as applicable]
  • Able to teach classes as scheduled in the curriculum sequence when planned per cohort.
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment utilizing excellent time and stress management skills for the demands of a multi-dynamic program.
