Tyler LaRosa, 20’ and Liam Smith, 21’, recently had their original research paper “Nutritional Knowledge of NAIA Collegiate Women’s Volleyball Athletes” accepted for publication in the journal Nutritional Foundations.
LaRosa and Smith conducted their research alongside faculty mentors Dr. James Geiselman and Dr. Bryan Gatzke. “Providing students with the opportunity to pursue research during their undergraduate careers is unique to Graceland University,” said Dr. Geiselman.
“My time at Graceland was valuable. I was able to build personal relationships with the faculty, which led to an opportunity to write and publish an original study. I will always appreciate the lasting impact my professors had on me”, LaRosa said.
This is the second publication from Dr. Geiselman’s Sport Nutrition course. Dr. Geiselman added, “working at Graceland is great because it allows for one-on-one mentoring with students that is often difficult to find at some other big state institutions.”
LaRosa graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Allied Health with a concentration in Applied Health Science, while Smith graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Allied Health with a concentration in Human and Sport Performance.
