Graceland Athletic Director Brady McKillip announced the hiring of Greg Criswell ’86 as head coach for women’s flag football, which will make its debut in the next academic year. Criswell brings a wealth of coaching experience to the new program, as well as a history with Graceland athletics.
McKillip said, “We are thrilled to bring this Graceland graduate back to ‘the Hill’ to inaugurate this program, and we are excited to kick off the season.”
Criswell was a two-sport athlete for the Yellowjackets, playing both football and baseball. Since graduating, he has been an educator and coach for over 30 years, coaching both men’s and women’s teams throughout Iowa, most recently as the head girls’ basketball coach at Urbandale High School.
“Greg’s skill for coaching team sports combined with his love for Graceland made him a fantastic choice to lead the Yellowjackets in the coming year,” said President Patricia Draves. “I am so excited to watch their competitions.”
When asked about the new role, Criswell said, “It is an honor and a privilege to be hired as the new Head Women’s Flag Football Coach at Graceland University! I look forward to and appreciate the opportunity to return to my alma mater to coach and be a part of the Graceland family again.”
There are over 11,000 high school women’s flag football programs in the United States and more than 19 colleges/universities at the NAIA level since launching in 2021.
