Graceland University has taken a big stride this summer in support for its premier soccer programs and has committed to a complete renovation of the playing surface, consisting of sod removal, laser grading, and resodding to enhance the quality and playability.
“This upgrade is very exciting,” said Brady McKillip, Graceland University Director of Athletics. “The well-being and success of our student-athletes and visitors is our top priority, and we’ll now have a top-notch playing surface for years to come.”
Additionally, this renovation will increase the size of the field to meet required standards necessary to host a conference championship game and first-round national tournament game, putting Graceland on the list for such an opportunity and honor.
President Patricia Draves added, “We are committed to providing the means to continue a strong Graceland soccer program. This renovation will offer a great way to start the year for our student-athletes, and we look forward to a successful season this fall.”
Graceland will partner with the Iowa Cubs Sport Turf Company based in Des Moines, Iowa, for the project. The renovation began yesterday, and the field will be ready to play on in early fall. McKillip is excited about the partnership with Casey Schiedel and the Iowa Cubs Sports Turf Company.
“Their reputation in the state is second to none when it comes to renovating sports fields,” he said. “I want to thank everyone involved in the process for working together to get this project moving.”
