Graceland University to Host Congressman Loebsack for Annual Constitution Day Lecture Sept. 21

Iowa Second District Congressman Dave Loebsack, whose district includes Decatur County, will be presenting the annual Constitution Day Lecture at Graceland Monday, Sept. 21. It is a 50-minute session beginning at 1 p.m. in Carol Hall, in the northwest corner of the Shaw Center on Graceland’s Lamoni campus.

Federal law requires all universities who receive federal aid to do something honoring the birth of the constitution in 1787. Graceland happily complies with this requirement because the university knows the importance of the constitution and is pleased to offer students and others to be more informed on the topic.

Loebsack is the third member of Congress to present this annual lecture at Graceland. Lamoni’s Leonard Boswell was the first.

Loebsack taught international politics at Cornell College for 26 years before winning a seat in Congress in 2006.

Everyone is invited. The event is not limited to Graceland students and staff.
