Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Matt Schneider was interviewed after the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade.
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Matt Schneider was interviewed Friday, February 16, 2024, by Grace Smith of KCTV5 (a CBS affiliate) regarding the shooting last Wednesday during the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City. Schneider’s research into active shooter events focuses primarily on educational campuses. Still, his expertise helped explain the reaction of the citizens on scene who reacted and intervened when the shooting started. Schneider described the “9/11 Effect” and how many people’s fight or flight reaction to a traumatic situation has been changed since September 11, 2001, galvanizing some to refuse to be victims.
