Professor Mammen teaches Advanced Pathophysiology, which is a foundational course for nursing. Understanding the “why and how” of disease processes allows advance practice nurses to assess, diagnose and treat patients suffering from those diseases.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she feels that she has a better understanding of Pathophysiology providing her the tools needed to care for patients. Research continues to identify new theories of pathology which lead to emerging treatments.
Fun fact: I know the lyrics to LOTS of songs, but unfortunately am not talented enough to sing them well.
